San Miguel Arcángel Parish, Midland dates back to 1967. At inception, it was called La Capilla (Chapel) and was named St. Ann’s Hall. Besides, fellowship, it was primarily used as a CCD Center. In June 1969, La Capilla was transferred to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church as a Mission Station. The name St. Ann’s Hall was changed to La Virgen de San Juan de Los Lagos.
On November 1, 1981, Bishop A. Fiorenza appointed Father Stephen Kennelly, a diocesan priest to be in charge of it. In 1984, the mission was elevated to the status of Parish. In 1985, a new worshiping building was built and was dedicated by Bishop Michael D. Pfeifer, OMI as Our Lady of San Juan Church.
The current Church structure was built under the pastor-ship of Father Frank Chavez. It was dedicated December, 2010 at its completion by Bishop Michael Pfeifer, Bishop of San Angelo at the time. At its dedication, Our Lady of San Juan took on a new name of San Miguel Arcángel. Beside the altar we have the relics of St. Pius V and St. Gemma Galgani.
San Miguel Arcángel Catholic Church located on the south side of Midland, has faithfully served the Lord for over forty years plus and has offered heartwarming fellowship, lead people closer to God, reinforced family values, built stronger ties and strengthened our community.
