According to Canon § 515,”a Parish is a definite community of the Christian faithful established on a stable basis within a particular Church…” The particular Church as used in our context is the Diocese of San Angelo. Since this definite Community is entrusted to the pastoral care of a Pastor as its own shepherd under the authority of the Diocesan Bishop, the pastor and some elected members of the same Community work together to foster pastoral activity (Canon 536).
Consequently, the parish council comprises of the Pastoral and Finance Councils who assist the pastor in the administration of parish goods without disregarding the prescription of Canon § 532. Hence, every other committee/groups in the parish is to work together under the frame work of the pastor and councils, to bring about the holistic growth of the Community of God’s holy faithful in the parish and the particular Church whose territory the parish is located.
